I was under the impression that shock occurred when something very bad happened to you, such being rear-ended by an inattentive driver who took out my trunk and backseat and could very well have taken out me. Did I deserve a settlement? No question. Circumstances, pictures, and an eye witness made th...at clear. None-the-less, a medical complication could have obscured the facts and made a just settlement tricky- and it was. I wasn't very hopeful. But when I went to Mr. Nugent's office-a place where you are treated like family-to pick up my check and saw what he had accomplished, I amazed myself that I behaved calmly, I thanked him and then drove directly, and ever so carefully, to my bank, having learned that shock can also occur when something very good happens to you.
