I recently had a consultation with Josh regarding my federal and private student loans. He was able to explain many different things about my loans and my different options for dealing with them, and I came away from the consultation feeling like I had a much better understanding of my situation and... a clear plan for how I would proceed with my loans in the future. Josh was not only very informative, but also very clear about what he could do for me and what I could do for myself. Just as an example, Josh was able to explain (much better than the Public Interest Loan Forgiveness program) why I wasn't eligible for (eventual) forgiveness of my federal loans. He also seems to have a genuine passion for helping people deal with the same issues that all recent law school graduates struggle with every day.

My private student loans occupied over 35% of my income and had me fearful of marriage and having children. I help the homeless on Sundays and know all too well how debt can put someone on the street. Not only was every question answered, but no matter how scary the "worst case scenario" was, J...oshua had a very simple solution with choices I could make as plan B, C, D and so on. I'm surprised to learn that I actually have options beyond default or full payments (that I can't afford) and that on the road to clearing my debt, there are many side streets I can take as I approach them - all of which are FAR BETTER options than my current situation. Other than never accepting private student loans, my only wish is that I had come to Joshua before my bankruptcy and even years prior to that desperate state. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

My particular student loan situation had so many moving parts that I knew could not successfully go forward. I anticipated getting some direction. What I didn't know is how many options were available, pros/cons of each, etc. Mr. Cohen called within 5 min of our scheduled appt & was FULLY PREPPED f...or our mtg.; how refreshing. He asked several clarifying questions to make sure he had all the facts/circumstance straights Mr. Cohen proceeded to share multiple options & when/how to move forward with each. He fully explained why I should follow a particular route for the best outcome. He made sure to answer every single question I had, including the possibility of bankruptcy. When the call ended, Mr. Cohen left me armed with my next six steps. He even offered to make contact with a particularly stubborn lender/servicer if I required it. Josh assisted me with a somewhat complex, factually thorny student loan related matter. He was extremely knowledgeable. In fact, I haven't come across anyone who so thoroughly knew his way around the issues in the student loan landscape. He was worth the time and expense and I will hire him in a minu...te if the need arises again.
