Had A Great Experience!

Speaking with Joshua helped me tremendously in leading me in the right direction for my student loan situation. He provided a lot of informative and useful information to better assist me in making the right decision going forward. Without meeting him in person, he made the call very comfortable with... his sense of humor and was very easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend him!

Easy, Simple and Solutions Oriented !

Josh is solutions oriented and immediately sizes up the loan documents and the monetary figures. He proceeds to dissect the options and immediately cites what works and what does not. He speaks from experience so he makes it very easy to understand and follow. I would recommend him to anyone, anytime....

Stress reliever!!!

Contacting Josh about my student loan situation was the best thing I could have done! I met with a lawyer who told me Josh was the best person for the job and that statement could not be more correct! When Josh and I first spoke he immediately made me feel at ease, like I was in control of my situati...on but most importantly that there were options for me. up until this point I had my back to the wall with a white flag in the air. After our 30 minute phone call he had answered my questions and reassured me that the odds were in my favor. I even told Josh at the end of the call that prior to our conversation I had a massive lump in my throat and anxiety through the roof of what lies ahead for me, but that talking to him immediately relieved my stress and made me feel like I have control again!

Everyone in trouble with student loans needs to call this guy :)

I have been struggling for YEARS with an old student loan debt. I recently received a Federal offset letter and threats of wage garnishment. I had to face this student loan debt or the collectors were going to ruin my life. Out of desperation, I called Josh Cohen and it changed my life. He explained ...the process to get out of default and worked on the forms with me. He was non judgmental and kind. I now have a payment I can afford. Don;t let your student loans ruin your life. Call him before it is too late. You will be happy you did!

Good on Some but not All Issues

I requested a consultation with The Student Loan Lawyer for two reasons -- 1) to gain clarification on specific rules for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and 2) to learn whether i have any opportunity to challenge having been kicked off the Income Based Repayment Plan due to some clerical... errors on the part of my loan servicer. The consultation costs $250 for a half hour, which is a lot for my budget, but I was willing to pay in order to get the "peace of mind" that he advertises on his site. Mr. Cohen is very polite and was helpful in answering some of my questions. He is clearly knowledgeable about most issues concerning federal student loans. We spoke on the phone for only 12 minutes of the 30 we had available but I left the call feeling reasonably confident that the information I received was reliable. Unfortunately since that time I've learned that the information I have on hand is no more complete than what I had before, and I've had to spend quite a bit more of my own time working to get a definitive answer to my questions through other sources, including my congressman's office, which offers assistance on some of these matters free of charge. I'm still not all the way there but at this point it's clear that the information that Mr. Cohen provided is not as clear cut as he led me to believe. I attempted to contact Mr. Cohen about this in early September but he does not seem interested in responding to my inquiry, so I've decided to let it go and move on. While I wouldn't necessarily steer future clients away from Mr. Cohen (he does offer some very useful guidance) I would recommend that those seeking a consultation ask some questions up front to determine if he is the right contact for their specific question.

Carrie, I would appear there is some miscommunication here. I responded to your September e-mail and even followed up to that in October. I just sent those follow-ups again because I have been plagued with an e-mail server issue and have learned not all of my e-mails are going through. If you could contact me to verify that you have or have not received my follow-up e-mails, that would help clarify where the train derailed. We can then discuss if you want my assistance or not. In my e-mails, I've requested copies of the new information you have so that I can correct what is wrong and admit what I have wrong. I'm here to make sure you have clarification, but miscommunication cannot help that. I apologize for my e-mail issue. Again, if you'd like assistance or at least a review of the new information, I'm happy to do that. Regards, Joshua Cohen
