Legal advice on Criminal sentencing

My son was sentenced to 180 days for a state jail felony. He has been told so many different things, that he will probably serve his time in county jail and he’s also been told he would go state jail. He is a first time offender.

im on deferred adjudication probation for 10years ive completed 3 years coming up on 4years. I finished my CSR hours an i owe $3000 left of $10,000. ive been reporting every other month never failed a drug screen. never been late to a visit. can i make payments in advance? would i qualify for early termination or would i have to do my whole sentence of 10years?

A few years ago, I was arrested for felony assault while under the influence. I was granted a conditional release from jail by the Court to attend substance abuse treatment, and as part of a plea bargain, I was sentenced to several years of probation under a stay of adjudication. Upon successful completion of my probation, the case was dropped without a conviction. In the course of this time, rather than wasting away in a cell, I was able to spend two years participating in inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment and am still sober today. I am unbelievably grateful to both the judge for granting a release and accepting the plea bargain, and the assistant DA who was open to the generous deal. Are there any legal ramifications of writing a letter to each of them thanking them? I don't want it to appear as if they somehow showed me preferential treatment or anything unseemly that might call into question my case and lead to any sort of reversal or change. Anything else I should know? Note that I have yet to sue for expungement (as I believe is possible in MN one year after completing the stay of adjudication period). Should I wait till that is done?

My fiancé was convicted of second degree murder he was sentenced 29yrs he’s serving 14yrs for the murder which almost over then he has to serve another 8-10 sentence because they were not ran concurrent he was convicted at the age of 17yrs old I’m trying to see if it’s too late to have them ran concurrent or is there anything I can do because I’ve never seen anything like this it’s been a long time this man is 32 yrs old ain’t no way if there’s a way to take a chance and see if this can be overturned I’ll take that risk

I have recently been charged with simple assault and harassment after a mutual altercation with my SO. It started verbally and then he struck me in the face and I struck back and then a mutual tussle ensued. We were both intoxicated. After contacting my son he called the police. The police separated us and spoke to us both. They took him away in handcuffs and I got a temporary pfa on him. I just received paperwork a few days later that I am being charged with simple assault because they discovered a cut on his leg and he claimed that I stabbed him with a fork which I did not. He is now being considered the victim even though he does not want charges pressed. The officer claims that there was blood on my hand and he inquired about it which never happened. I have my security camera footage of me conversing with the officer outside and it is 100% clear that this never happened. There was also no blood anywhere. My SO did however get a small cut treated on his leg. We just paid off fines for harassment charges a while ago that we both obtained from another drunken altercation. I also did ARD. Is it likely I will do jail time?

He was sentence 17 years ago owes 10,000 of restitution but the victims both have passed away

I had 14 month probation for a DWI is has now reached the ending date of August 31 2023.

I am planning to bring a contempt case against my ex for repeated violations of our custody of our custody agreement. I can prove them, he knows it. Once I file and he asks me to cancel it, can I propose a plea deal with guilty plea and community service? Is this allowed? If he doesn’t agree I would just add attorney and ask for fees when/if he’s found guilty. So he has incentive to agree. I have read some downsides on here of filing contempt but he needs punishment or he’s going to keep doing it. And other things harder to prove. Can you agree to a plea bargain and penalty in a family law custody contempt case?

I share a car and over the course of the last year there have been a handful of failed tests. Never have I had a lockout or violation required to go in for a calibration. However, I am in the final 3 months of my suspension period and last week my boyfriend blew a .03 and drove after it passed a little while later, but there was detectable BAC. In your experiences as lawyers how may this affect my eligibility for a full license when the time comes? This IID is not court ordered it is just the requirement for me to have a restricted license for a year. I completed 1 year hard suspension last year. I do not have a camera or GPS on this device. Will the DMV decide against me? Trying not to worry too much.
