Legal advice on Penalties for not paying child support

Me and my daughters father broke up and he took her from me and he passed away when she was 3 and the family never gave me my daughter but is now serving me with child support

When we were divorced I was ordered to pay child support, but the courts were aware I was not working and ill. For the past couple of years I have not been able to get any income, been in and out of the hospital multiple times, almost died twice, and still have no income. Last time he refused to let me see my kids, we went to court and the judge made him return to the arrangement, but he brought up my lack of child support which I told the judge I still had no income due to my illness. The judge said then that if I have no income then he can't enforce it.. I was under the impression the judge stopped the payments, but now that he filed the contempt paperwork, I'm finding out the payments did not stop. I still have no income, but did recently try again for disability. I don't know what to do anymore, I need help. I can not pay. I can't even afford a lawyer to help me with this. Like I said no income. My friends and family pay my rent and bills, I'm on section 8 and receive snap.. not sure if that means anything. I would get a lawyer, but nobody can afford one.

NCP was appointed a court lawyer, however, not sure how they qualified since there is proof they consistently pay for bi-monthly $600-$1,000 air travel for visitation with our child and can afford that but yet not pay for child support. I'd like know what is likely purge amount and conditions to be set at the hearing. This is a second contempt within two years and this time was initiated by the state, not me. Would the judge want it paid that same day or give them time to come up with the money? What's likelihood they ACTUALLY go to jail? Unfortunately, I feel unless there are consequences like jail, they will never actually follow the court order.

My child’s father hasn’t paid in more than 4 years and owes more than $20,000. I’m not sure but from social media it seems that he has fled the state. I really need the support, what evidence do I need to submit? What if he doesn’t appear at the virtual hearing? He is paying a lawyer I am currently self representing.

My boyfriend divorced from his ex 13 years ago, at the time the ex wife received custody, after her third arrest for drug possession my boyfriend had convinced her to let him have custody of their then 7 year old daughter. My boyfriend made the mistake of not legally filing with the courts for custody of her. He had custody of her until she was of age ( a period of 11 years), the daughter never wanted anything to do with the mother after she started living with her father because of the drugs and the people who her mother were around. A few years ago the mother decided to file for back child support for the daughter since the courts had it listed she had thierr daughter and the courts granted it to her in the amount of 16,000.00+, my boyfriend tried to fight it on his own and the judge told him, “you should have legally filed for custody”. There are records of the daughter living with her father and not the mother but the judge still wouldn’t over turn it. My boyfriend is have to pay this woman each month or face DL suspension or contempt of court. Is there anything that can be done or should he just learn to live with the fact he is having to pay CS for a child he raised?

I have always paid my support via wage attachments for many years. I went out of work on short term now long term disability. I am only $1,300 behind in arrears. Today I recieved a letter from the court saying I have a "contempt of court" hearing on Nov 26th 2018. The date today is Nov 3rd 2018. If I pay off the balance can court be avoided? Also.. since i am out of state and my disability prevents me from driving long distances can I do a phone appearance on the court date if I have no choice but to appear?

My husband has had health issues for many years so his employment record is spotty and he has child support arrears, but he has always paid when he was employed and done whatever he could to help even when unemployed by taking kids to the doctors, watching them after school, getting help from his parents to to pay for things such as school supplies and clothes. He has never asked for a modification because he always believed his health will improve and he will be able to hold permanent employment. This is not the case and he has come to accept it and applied for disability, but been denied twice and is on his third appeal. His plan was to wait to ask for a modification until he got through his second appeal so that if it was approved he could supply CSE with the details of his disability income. Now that he is on to third appeal and knows this will take a while he planned to ask for a modification in hopes that something will be modified even though his disability is undetermined. In the midst of this, he has now received a notice to appear in for contempt of court. Should he still submit for a modification or wait for the hearing? What if ex closes CSE case?

My ex-husband owes me over $27,000.00 in back child support and he is laughing at me saying I will never get it.. I raised my son on my own and he hardly payed a dime to help me. My son is 22yrs old now but I think my ex stills owes me this money ..

My exhusband pushed for rights that he doesn’t exercise. He does call, y’all, or see them when he should. And has now officially given up his weekends. He also does not pay child support. My kids are constantly let down when it does come up and he’s in town. I’m wanting to get sole custody of my kids. Not sure if I’m doing the right thing b/c the courts want them to have both parents. There have been a few shady parts on his side during visits and I worry for their welfare.

Circuit court of Hayward County in Tennessee ordered a continuance at a hearing allowing the respondent to only pay $52 a month effect of September 1st of 2018 for his arrears payment. He is 5600 dollars behind and hasn't paid his current monthly obligation. It was ordered adjudicated and decreed. The matter will continue on Oct 1, 2108. He hasn't had any repercussions for not paying. Is Tennessee more lenient then Mn. They filed contempt of court under UIFSA.
