Can you sue a business under a DBA? Meaning can the defendant be an assumed name of a business?

I want to sue a business but I'm not sure who the owner is. They don't have an LLC but I know the address of the business and the DBA. Who would I sue?

How do I change my business name on my EIN and do I need to?

Hi I created an EIN with the business name that had a space between the two words I used but when I created my LLC I created my business name with both words running together and no space. For example my EIN shows John Co LLC but my LLC says JohnCo LLC. Do I need to go in and change that or is this difference fine?

Entity as the Business Owner

Hello. What do I need to have as proof of the business activities commenced by the company, besides the EIN/bank account? I formed the entity and it will have a couple of DBA(s) and online business activities. The question for me is what do I have to prove that it is under this business name, not under the personal name? There is no indication that the entity is the owner of the business.

I am an S corp in NY and want to use a different business name. Should I change the name or file a Cetificate of assumed name ?

Hello, I am an S corp in NY , my business name is "Soul and Balloons" and I want to use a different business name because my business has growth and now I offer more than balloons, I offer flowers and other services related to event design and planning. I wonder if I should change the name with the IRS and the State or it is better if I file a Cetificate of assumed name (DBA). Are there any drawbacks to doing so? Thank you for your help.

Is it best to have two LLC's or one holding company for two businesses?

I'm testing the market in two different categories. One is in cosmetics and the other is in beverage. However, both business's have different names and I need to be protected. I know there are some disadvantages when it comes to insurance and accounts. I'm just starting out and will leverage the business that does better and drop the none profitable one. I'm trying hard to save money and avoid having to open multiple LLC's as it can get expensive to open and close the accounts. What is the best approach for me to start both businesses; save a little cash and be protected. Also, I assume if I have one holding company it can be a different name than the two businesses, correct ? If it is suggested I go that route.

What to do with Marshall's Notice of Levy and Sale if I'm not the subject of the collection?

This is for a retail store creditor judgement against the previous owner of the business. Which no longer operate business at the same address. We got a Marshall's notice of levy and sale posted on our storefront that is addressed to the previous owner (both Corporation name and owner name were on the notice) at the same address, and that Marshall will levy on inventory for sale to pay for the debt owned. Is this serious? How should we respond that we are not the subject of this judgement? What will happen if we ignore it?
