Legal advice on International divorce

I'm asking on behalf of my friend. He is married in Germany. He and his wife separated but have not divorced for years. He now finds his true love in the US, so he wants to get married to his girlfriend. His current wife fully supports their decision, but she doesn't want to legally divorce since she has pressure from her traditional family. If he and his girlfriend get married in the US, and his current wife can provide documents to show she supports this decision, is it legal?

My husband and I got married in Van Nuys years ago. We have now decided to get divorced peacefully. Both US citizens, he lives in LA and I live in Europe. Can this be done online, due to the geographic distance between us? What are the expected costs to submit our case without an attorney? I appreciate your advice. Thank you very much.

We have filed a mutual consent divorce in India on July 15 as we got married according to Hindu law in India in 2019. However it will take 6 months to receive the divorce decree. In the meanwhile since my spouse has her H4 visa already stamped (currently in india) and knowing that she can fly to USA can she still push me for a divorce filing in the USA ? I am asking this question to avoid any further complications in USA as I am on H1 visa and already travelled back to UsA from india and my wife is planning to stay with her sister in USA as she has her H4 visa already stamped in June 2021.

I had a friend do service to give papers to the defendant in this case. So he went to his house, asked for (defendant’s name) and the defendant lied and said (the defendant) ,or he, isn’t home. The friend who was serving didn't know what the defendant looked like until after the fact when I showed him a picture. So since he didn’t know if it was actually the defendant at the time, he couldn’t just drop the papers off. The defendant had been balling up his fist and looked visibly angry as this was happening, according to my friend. So to avoid a physical altercation, the friend of mine doing service didn’t want to go to his door again. I was on FaceTime with my friend up until he got to the door, so I know he went. It’s the weekend, so we can’t use court officers, and the papers are to be served by 7/10. The judge didn’t give much time, but we still tried anyways. We called the sheriff and they did say to let the court know and record if we do it again. But I need to know if service is complete and if not, am I allowed to have someone attempt to serve after the due date?

Need to legally register my divorce in US.

Hello. My wife started divorce while she was abroad so she sent all the documents via Fedex. I signed all the documents and sent it back to her. Documents were notarized, everything was accepted by clerk and sent to the judge. Court is now requesting Proof of Service or case will be dismissed. We didn't have third party to serve the documents. What can be considered legal proof of service? I've submitted signed Affidavit of Defendant where it says I confirm I was served and date of service.

If the divorce decree was issued by the court of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will it be recognized in the US? And if not, is there any way to have it recognized in the US? Thank you!

Hi Jon, my husband and I got Married in the State of California 7 years ago. He acquired his US Citizen ship by marrying me, American Citizen of 20 years. We are both American as well as Slovakian Citizens. We moved to Prague, Czech Republic for work 2 years ago. He filed for divorce under Czech Law - September 18th, 2017, and Divided Marital Property by Czech Legal System where I signed documents I did not understand. I never agreed with the way our properties got divided but had my hands tight up since I do not speak Czech very well. He forced me to sign all paper work and received personal threats. He was clever and knew I had no family to help. I received the court ruling and division of property statement by Czech Court. He kept both Apartments what are worth over $500, 000 USD. I was awarded $180,000 USD and was never informed that I am entitled to his pension as well. He and his lawyer completely cut me off. Will any of this get recognized under the state of California where we were married? What can I do? He filed for divorce in Czech Republic since it was cheap and convenient.
