Does the sender of a certified mail have to live in my state?

I am getting ready to file for divorce. I live in California and my wife lives in Texas. I plan to serve her via certified mail. I know I can't mail the papers myself. My question is whether the person who mails them for me has to live in California. I have a friend willing to do it but he lives in New Jersey. I'd have to send the document package to him and then he would send it to my wife. Please let me know if this is allowed.

When can I change my state residency during divorce?

We moved to Texas two months ago and my plan was to change my primary state to Texas. My husband just filed for divorce. Am I still able to change my residency or I have to keep it in California.

Is it possible to win custody for a dog as a nonowner?

I married a woman with a dog. The dog was 3 and now is 10. I have been the primary caretaker of the dog throughout the marriage. During our separation, she pushed the dog onto me and i have been taking care of it myself for almost 1.5 years. Now she wants the dog back. My lawyer says since she owned the dog before our marriage, I have no chance of keeping the dog. Is there a way to fight this?
