Legal advice on Divorce in Dist. of Columbia

I am resident of Washington DC only for 3 months. I can file for divorce in the middle of July to meet residency requirements. My husband is threatening to sell the house and move out money before I can file for divorce and stop him. He has title only in his name, but we bought this house together during marriage. We married for 10 years, and we have 5 y.o. son. Just recently I found out about 3 years cheating on me with our best friend and I asked for divorce. He is agreeing on peaceful divorce only if I take 20% of the house and refuse alimony and child support. I am a housewife and been rising my kid and helping my husband to build his business which we started together as well. I don't think he is fair. Can I do anything to stop him from selling our house now?

I have been fired from multiple jobs in the past due to my ex harassing my employers. I am 100% ok with the judge knowing my place of employment and any necessary information but not my ex. I fear I could possibly lose my new job in the future if she has the information.

Hi Looking for advice on the best state to file for an expeditious divorce from active duty military member. Member is Air Force Officer (MAJOR) stationed in North Carolina, Spouse works in Washington, DC & state of domicile is Texas for both presently. Can anyone advise on which of these three options is best for an expeditious and fair proceeding? No kids, wife (non-military member) is more financially well-off than husband (military member). Wife isn't interested in alimony or anything from husband other than divorce. Own 2 homes together as community property. Wife willing to sell both properties to split 50/50 husband will probably contest and ask for alimony or other resources.

My spouse and I divorced two years ago in Washington DC. It was amicable, we filed the papers ourselves and had a verbal agreement for property settlement. The situation has changed and we no longer have an amicable relationship. I am still on the title of his condo in New York. He is behind on his HOA payments and I am worried that I will have to pay it. I would like to force him to sell it but don’t know if that’s possible. I also bought an apartment in DC when we were separated and not divorced. I will soon be selling it to move to Virginia. He claims he is owed half of the gain because we were married at the time of the purchase.

Since we are using joint money for down payment, he agrees to sign Promissory Note that in case of sale of the house or divorce he will give me 30% of sale price of the property. What is the name of this contract? Does it even exist? Does this house is counted as marital if the title/deed solely in his name? How can I protect my and my child interests? Thank you

Hi, me and my husband placed an offer for the house. We agreed 80% him and 20% me on the title. After offer was accepted he changed his mind and want to ask title company change it to 100% him. I did not work for 4 years because I was stay at home mom. Before we were working together, but all money stays in his bank account. All mortgage and money belong to him. Can he do it? How can I protect myself? Offer has both our names.

I filed for the divorce, we have been separated already, the court has given a temporary custody order but instead of granting the divorce they asked that we go back to mediation and gave a court date for next year. I want to be divorced now and the child custody handled later.

I am in the military, my spouse left my kids and an over a year ago to live with her boyfriend. We are not divorced yet and the kids live at home with me. We are moving to a new state and I don’t want the kids to be exposed to her new boyfriend prior to getting an official divorce.
