Legal advice on Business in Iowa

We purchased a business that has waste oil burners for the heating system that requires air compressors to work. The previous owners have a year to clean out which is 4/1/23. Just yesterday they stated they were taking the air compressors that are used for the heating system (and a lot of equipment needed to run our business) Contract states "automatic heating equipment is part of the real estate we purchased. Can they take the compressors or are they part of the heating equipment?

Our truck broke down hours away after receiving bad diesel. We did all the right things after mechanic verified. We called Dept of Agriculture and Gas Station. It again was verified. The Gas company payed for all the repairs with no issues honestly but it took 3 months to get our truck back. Once we got it back it continues to have issues and had to go back to local dealership about every few days. It is now being sent back to original dealership to try to fix. This has been over 4 months of making monthly loan payments on a vehicle I don't have, having to rearrange vacations since didn't have a vehicle to pull trailer, borrowing another vehicle, etc. It's been a nightmare!

If gifted a trailer worth $5,000, no sales tax will be incurred at the time of registering. Hypothetically if I were to purchase the trailer with cash for $5,000, would the $350 in sales tax be worth the $5,000 of depreciation over the next couple of years?

Letter states they are within their rights to discharge this debt because the statute of limitations has expired. They also included 1099-C form with the letter. Debt descption: charged off ztel commicacations local home phones. Not sure what this is but it has to be from an account from 23 years ago. Can they still report on this? Not sure if the home phone they are inquiring about was even in my name. What do I do??

I work in the mobile industry and we make commission, however our commission is subject to chargebacks for 5 months if customers return products, etc…, seeing as I’m no longer going to be employed through the company, I’m hearing that my final commission check may be held for up to 5 months. Is this legal? Or do I have a right to it sooner?

I applied for EIdL loan in October of 2020 was denied due to 2019 taxes not being processed. After countless hours on hold a over 20 letters to irs was informed my return was lost misplaced or missing and was advised to file another return. Refiled November 2020. Begged borrowed and scraped by paying bills and have money to do what little bit of work came through. Was asked to provide more documents proving my business had been open prior to February 2020 which was easy since I have been self employed since 2015. Keep in mind at this time you only had to provide copy of schedule C you intended to file. I received PPP loan and had it forgiven. Received targeted advance and supplemental advance but was continuing to be denied EIdL. March 2022 appeal was again denied for no 2019 tax transcript. Today November 1, 2022 2019 return still not processed but have a $8500. Tax bill for 2019 and an unprocessed return. So now my business is pretty much closed I have lost my house and my credit is criminal all because the IRS was negligent and remains at fault of my business losing access to $144,000.00 if funding afforded to everyone else.

Purchased a Walmart gift card for $500 20 minutes went to use the card it wouldn't let me within 30 minutes I called customer service and from that point on jump through hoops for 3 weeks only to be told that gift cards were just like money and that there would be no refund once again I put $500 for my kids school supplies on that card and that's a lot of money to people like me surely there is some way to get my money back can you help me please

I need to get a small claims action against a certain corporation. They basically stole money from me. I uploaded money to “their” card, which was similar to a netspend, metabank, etc kind of card. This corporation has its headquarters in California, but also has a customer base in other states as well. They are pretty much a “brick and mortar” type company, where everything is done online. Do I need to sue them in California, or can I take them to small claims in Iowa? They took my social security money that I got in cash, and only gave me $272 of the $650 they owe me. They owe me another $378.
