Your Condo or Homeowners Association; a Sword or Shield?

Many people living in a deed restricted community or condominium see the Association as either a sword to use to attack a neighbor for alleged violations, or to protect them from a neighbor who they deem to be violating their rights. The Association exists, in part, to protect the community and deal with common issues. Be careful when owners or tenants or their lawyers demand that the Association take action in this regard. Individuals have rights to enforce the restrictions. If an issue isn't common, be careful about using the Association as an individual's sword or shield.
