Will medicare cover the cost of nursing home care?

Medicare only covers a portion of your nursing home care. When you enter a skilled nursing facility after being admitted to a hospital, Medicare will cover a hundred percent of your first twenty days in the nursing home. If you need more care than those twenty days, Medicare will then cover a portion of your next eighty days. You'll have a co-pay during those eighty days, about a hundred and fifty-seven dollars a day. If you need long term care, which is more than a hundred days in a nursing home, Medicare will not cover anything.
