Why should you have a living will?

A living will allows you to provide instructions to your medical care providers in the event that you are unable to provide those instructions verbally. You can choose to have anything from heroic measures, meaning feeding tube, ventilator or IV or you can choose to have comfort care only, meaning measures will be provided for your comfort, such as pain medicine, but no life saving or life sustaining measures will be provided or you can choose to have no medical intervention.
