Why is it important to establish paternity?

In Florida, a paternity refers to a father's rights and responsibilities regarding a child when he's not married to the mother. These rights need to be established prior to the father really being able to exercise and enforce any of his rights. It refers to a fathers right to visit with and have custody of his child or children, and also the obligation to financially support the children.
