Anything over 80 miles per hour.No matter what the speed limit is posted going over 80 is a class one misdemeanor. The posted speed limit can be 70 mph but if you are going 80 it becomes a jailable offense. Some courts routinely will put you in jail especially if your record is not good.
Anything 20 miles over the speed limit.No matter what the posted speed if you exceed that by 20 mph it becomes a class one misdemeanor in Virginia. A 25 mph zone become a criminal offense at 45 mph. Even if you are going from a 45 mph zone into a 25 mph area.
