What to Do After an Auto Accident
Do you know what to do after you are injured in an auto accident that wasn't your fault? Here are a few things to consider immediately after a car accident.
Get medical help.If you are seriously injured, call emergency services immediately. Tell the operator your location, what happened, and the level of known injuries. Then stay on the line until they ask you to hang up.
Record the scene. You need to preserve as much of the scene as possible. Take photos, obtain the other driver's name, insurance, and license plate number.
Record witness statements.Witnesses can disappear or forget exactly what happened. Obtaining their names, and notes on their statements will go a long way towards helping you win a personal injury claim.
Contact an experienced lawyer.Avoid speaking with the other driver's insurance company until you've at least spoken to a lawyer and had your case reviewed. If the personal injury lawyer accepts your case, they'll handle any claims from here.
