What is the difference between an elder law attorney and an estate planning lawyer?

I see elder law as a sub-specialty of estate planning. We handle similar but not entirely identical issues. Estate planning attorneys often refer clients to elder law attorneys when medicaid is involved. Similarly, as an elder law attorney, I would always refer complex estate-planning cases to outside counsel when appropriate.
