What is Separate Property in Florida?

In the state of Florida, separate property is actually referred to as non marital property, and the easiest way to think of what non marital property is is anything that you receive outside of the marriage. If you receive anything prior to getting married or before getting married, that will most likely be your non marital property. Again, there's some specifics and technicalities and exceptions to that rule, so I definitely recommend speaking with the experienced family law attorney if you're concerned about whether an item that you have would be classified as marital or non marital property.
