What is an SCI Conference In Nassau County?

An SCI conference means a Superior Court Information Conference, which means your case is going to be transferred to the County Court (which is a superior court to the District Court and tantamount to the Supreme Court in other counties such as NYC) for the purpose of having a discussion with the Assistant District Attorney who will actually be handling the case at the time of trial. This is an important conference because it will many times determine whether your case will be reduced back down to the District Court or if it will be handled in the County Court in the future. If it stays in the County Court, then it means its being handled in a more serious fashion and that does not bode well for you or your case. Usually, you can get a few conference dates in County Court before the schedule requires the case to be either plead or returned back to part 9 in District Court.
