The two major components to be considered are (1) are you a flight risk; and (2) are you a danger to the community.
What is a flight risk all about?
Do you have a verified address to stay at? Do you have a job waiting for you upon release? What is your history for appearing for court on this and previous cases?
A court tends to think that some one who has a home and a job are good risks. If you have no criminal history those help because you don't have a record of making court on schedule but it is offset by having had no reason to. If you have a record then your history for having for having been in court when you are required to counts.
Why would I be considered a threat to community safety?
The charge you are being held on is one aspect. The more serious the crime the more likely a bond will be considered necessary. Your history of prior convictions, whether minor matters or serious ones will also be taken into account.
I don't like the Judge's decision on bond.
Unless you reserved the right to argue bond at a later hearing the only hope for a reduction or amended set of release conditions would be if there was a change in one of the circumstances listed above.
