What are the Domestic Violence Parts in the Courts in Nassau County? Pt. 1

These are specialized courts established mostly in the District Court to address the problems in households where violence takes place. Usually, when a couple has a fight, one or the other calls the police (or a neighbor may call) and when the police respond, they are now under orders to not just separate the couple as they used to do. Now the police must make an arrest in almost every instance. That usually means the first person to call the police becomes the Complainant and the other person becomes the Defendant. When that happens, the Defendant gets arrested and goes to jail overnight and will be arraigned the next morning in Arraignment.
