Warning Signs of Nursing Home Neglect

We trust nursing homes to take care of our elderly parents and family members who require daily care. It's hard to accept the possibility that a loved one is being mistreated, even when signs are there. If a loved one is in a nursing home, it is essential you be aware of warning signs of neglect.

There are numerous New York State and Federal laws to ensure the well-being of nursing home patients, but unfortunately many elderly people are still neglected. Elder abuse and neglect is so prevalent that it is estimated that over two million Americans over the age of 65 have been neglected or abused by a caregiver. Most nursing homes lack adequate staffing to care for residents, which is why families need to be aware of signs of neglect or abuse.
