A quick guide to removing points off of your New Jersey Drivers License.
Annual Safe Driving
It is possible to remove points off of your New Jersey Drivers License by being a Safe Driver. Being a safe Driver means that you have gone a full year without receiving any new violations. New Jersey DMV will remove up to 3 points off of your New Jersey Drivers License for being a Safe Driver.
Defensive Driving Course
New Jersey DMV has approved classroom and online courses for the Defensive Driving Course. Completion of an approved Defensive Driving Course will remove 2 points off of your New Jersey Drivers License. If you take this course when you do not have any points on your license, it will not be applied to any points you receive at a later date. Additionally, you may only use this course to remove points off of your New Jersey Drivers License once every five years. The other good thing about taking a Defensive Driving Course is that your insurance company may lower your rate if you provide them with proof of course completion.
