Guardianships are the tool that gives a person, called a “guardian,” control over the incapacitated person in need of assistance, called a “ward.” The guardianship may be in the form of control over their property, physical person, or even both. Once one becomes a guardian over a ward, they are tasked with caring for the ward including setting up doctor’s appointments, paying bills and debts, and managing assets.
