Should You ALWAYS Hire A Lawyer For Your Personal Injury Case (Car Crash)?

Should you always hire a lawyer for your personal injury, namely a car crash case? To put the question another way, should you always lawyer up when a 3rd party has caused your injury? This is a question that we can get sometimes after people have been on the internet researching their injury and how a lawyer can help them.

The answer to the question of should you always hire a lawyer for your personal injury is that it depends. There are many factors which are important when looking to answer this question. In this educational article and supporting video I will discuss some key factors you must keep in mind. WHO OR WHAT CAUSED YOUR INJURY

My law firm handles medical malpractice cases. Because these cases require the use of medical experts, and other professionals, this is one reason why I rarely suggest for a person to handle these cases without the aid of a Maryland medical malpractice lawyer. A mistake in medical malpractice case can sometimes prevent you from being able to pursue your claim.

However, what if your injury is the result of an auto crash? For the purpose of this article I want to focus on auto collisions.

SHOULD YOU ALWAYS HIRE A LAWYER FOR YOUR PERSONAL INJURY CASE?

One of the things I like to stress to people when they are asking about should they get a lawyer for their auto crash case is that they must be true to themselves. By that I mean what do they want to happen with their claim?

Let us say that a person has been injured in an auto crash. They were stopped at a red light and were rear-ended by another car. Because of the crash the injured person is contacted by the insurance company for the person who hit them. The adjuster for the insurance company offers money to the injured person.

Deep down the injured person wants the money offered and will not participate in any treatment from their doctor because of other life obligations. Add to this, the injured person does not have the patience to wait months or possibly years, for their case to go to court.

Can you see how in this situation it may not be in this person’s best interest to hire an attorney? Hiring an attorney might be at odds with the stated goals above. Therefore, to the question of should you always hire a lawyer for your personal injury case, the answer will be, it depends.
