Should my lawyer represent me during my appraisal process?

Absolutely. You want to make sure that you have a qualified attorney that represents you during this process. Because similar to an arbitration or even trial, an appraisal is an adversarial process, and the decision of the umpire can very well be binding on your case. So you want to be fully-represented and know your rights, because under some circumstances, there are ways that you can compel the carrier to pay for your fees of having to hire an attorney to represent you in this case.
