Should Child Support Be Set as a Percentage of Income?

In Illinois, setting child support as a percentage of income ("20% of father's net income") as opposed to a fixed dollar amount ("$1,000 per month") may seem like a good idea. But the reality is there are pro's and con's and it should only be done if warranted by statute.
