Reopening a Closed Workers Compensation Case in Arizona

There are situations when a claim will be closed, but medical treatment is still authorized. In Arizona, this is called “supportive care" and it will allow the injured worker to return to the treating physician throughout the year to receive treatment and medication for the remaining injury.

Your closed claim may also be reopened if the injured worker experiences a new, additional or previously undiscovered problem from the original injury claim. The injury claim may be reopened for the purpose of the injured worker to receive additional medical care to treat the condition. The reopening of the case will begin the process for payment of medical and disability benefits as if it were a new claim.
