As part of “Operation Beer Garden," detectives from the Phoenix Police Department have been working with local employees at Circle K convenience stores to catch the Valley’s most notorious petty thieves. The most recently arrested bandit, 43-year-old Felix Castillo, is believed to have stolen over 3,000 beers from AZ Circle K stores, valuing over $2,000.
Officers say Castillo would sometimes take as many as three 30-pack cases of beer at once and estimate that he made out of the Circle K stores without paying as many as 36 times. In 2011, Castillo was jailed for similar petty thefts and was on probation for those offenses at the time of his arrest.
