Pendente Lite Support During a Divorce Process in Virginia

There are some situations where a spouse will be likely to be granted financial support during a separation in Virginia. After a very long marriage, where one spouse is non-working spouse, one spouse has a disability or if there are large disparities in income between spouses.

Courts in Virginia may grant "pendente lite" alimony during divorce litigation. It may be granted for a defined duration (temporary) or it may be granted for a indefinite duration which lasts until it is terminated by death, remarriage, or a court finding of cohabitation.
