Negligence: Professionals and Health Care Providers

For doctors and other health care providers, Florida law imposes a standard of care based on what is recognized as acceptable and appropriate by reasonably prudent similar health care providers in light of all relevant circumstances. "Similar health care providers" may have to be certified specialists, depending on the circumstances. [Fla. Stat. 766.102] Also, Florida has adopted a detailed procedural framework for bringing medical malpractice claims against health care providers.
