My Interview was Just Cancelled.... Why???? (Or I'm not receiving interviews)
You have worked hard and landed an interview (or have not received an interview) and it is CANCELLED. And the reason is a cryptic stock answer. Unforeseen events. What are the possible reasons and if its me what can I do.
A list of possible reasons why no interview or an interview was cancelledI know you are stressed. It could be something not related to you at all, or it could be. I have laid out some of the possible reasons. It could be a hundred different reasons. Some things you may need to fix.
A new hiring manager came on the scene and they have a person they want.
The company had a bad quarterly report and has a hiring freeze.
A person who was going to retire, changed their mind.
Business slow down.
Automation has made the position not necessary.
The CEO's granddaughter wanted a job.
They did a background check on you and found a petty crime from 20 years ago. (if that is the case, find an expungement attorney and get it removed.)
They found the perfect candidate.
They contacted your current or former employer and they bad-mouthed you. (Google how to handle a former bad employer bad reference)
If you do have a criminal record try and get it expunged. Otherwise, that will be with you forever. AND sometimes, the records division of the criminal system makes mistakes. Check that out.
Or they could have run a credit check on you and did not like your score.
Or they googled you and your Facebook page came up and you were show in a less than favorable light. Remove all items from your social media that an employer would not be impressed with.
They did not like your Instagram pictures or the slogans you posted.
I had a client who could not understand why she was not getting interviews. i looked at her LinkedIn page and it was her in a bikini. Think about it. Be Professional.
Someone posted something bad about you, even lies, on some site somewhere.
Google yourself. and go through at least page 5. Probably more. Bad news is there is no way to remove that. I watched a client pay 10,000 and no results. You just have to defuse the issue with the potential employer.
They called your references and one of them was bad. (have a trusted friend contact your references and see what they are told. Same for your former employers.) If you Google how to handle a bad former employer bad reference, it will tell you how to handle that.) I will place some links in the next section.
I hope this helps. You need to do a little investigative work and keep looking for a job.
Read my $3.00 employment book on Amazon Kindle Self-Published Books. It covers some of this and a lot more.
