According to the most recent available data, the freight transportation industry in the United States transports about 16 billion tons worth of goods across the country every single year, and that number has only been increasing. In fact, the U.S. Department of Transportation reported that 1 in 7 people employed in the country work for the transportation industry, and more than 10 percent of the country’s GDP produced each year is tied to this industry.
