Melania Trump's Parents: Chain Migration?

Attorney Carl Shusterman appears on CBS News to answer questions about "chain migration" in light of Melania Trump's parents becoming US citizens. Ms. Trump, who is a citizen of the United States, originally sponsored her parents for green cards. On August 9, 2018, they became naturalized US citizens.

We are very happy for Ms. Trump and her parents. Unfortunately, President Trump is supporting the RAISE Act, a bill which would prevent US citizens from being able to immigrate their parents to the United States. He calls this "chain migration".

On February 10, 2018, President Trump stated: "Chain migration is a disaster, and very unfair to our country. "

We could not disagree more. Family reunification has always been an important part of our country's immigration system.
