Make this Mistake and Your Employer Will NOT Cover Your On-the-job Injury Claim

How would you react if you fell off a 10 foot ladder at work, and your employer and their insurance company refused to authorize treatment for your neck, or your feet, or your knees?

This outrageous situation has happened many times and will continue to happen because your employer and the workers’s compensation doctor does not write down the details of your injury in the first few days after you are hurt.

As unfair as it may seem, the words you use to describe your injury when talking to your supervisor and to your doctor have a huge impact on the type of treatment you can expect months or even years into the future.

Human nature tells us that when you are injured, your focus will be on the part of your body that hurts the most. For example, if you fall off a ladder, you may have severe pain in your lower back and rear end. If you report low back pain to the workers’ compensation doctor, that’s what he/she will treat. However, if two or three weeks later you realize that your left shoulder or right knee is also hurting, the insurance company may not authorize treatment for that body part.

I have seen many cases where a workers’ compensation doctor tells an injured worker “I am not authorized to treat your left shoulder” even though any reasonable person would recognize that a 10 foot fall is likely to cause injury to more than one’s lower back.

If you have just been injured, you would be wise to speak to a workers’ compensation lawyer for advice about how to make sure that your report of injury is complete and thorough. Every day you wait can increase the odds of a problem. #hurtatwork #workerscompensationinjury #georgiaworkerscompensationlawyer #atlantaworkerscompensationattorney #jobinjury #workplaceinjury #controvertedclaim ===============Free Case Evaluation=============== If you or a loved one would like a case evaluation for your Georgia workers' compensation claim, please call me at 770-351-0801 or email me at
