If you were in a car accident and the other driver received a traffic citation/ticket.
It may be a good idea to appear at the traffic court hearing for the other driver. Here's some simple steps:
Date, place and timeConfirm either through the Clerk of the Court or the police department when the other driver's court date and time will be held. Also, check to make sure you have the correct courthouse and courtroom.
Check-in with clerkAny persons with a ticket that day, must check in with clerk. You should, as well. But, be sure to tell the clerk that you are not a defendant, but the "complaining witness", aka the "CW".
ListenListen for the other driver's name to be called. Your name will not be called. When you hear his/her name, you must step forward in front of the judge.
TestifyYou may have to testify depending on the driver's plea and what the prosecutor chooses to do on the citation
