Guide to Choosing Car insurance coverage in Colorado
In Colorado, we are no longer a PIP or no-fault state so it is necessary to purchase Medical Payments Coverage under your car insurance policy if you want to make sure some of your medical bills will be paid (due to your accident). You are not required to carry med pay coverage but it is a good idea
Required to carry $25,000/$50,000Also, in Colorado one is required to carry $25,000/$50,000 in Bodily Injury coverage and this coverage is the minimum coverage that each Colorado resident must purchase. Of course, if you have more assets and more money in the bank, then you would want to purchase more than $25,000 as the other driver could go after you for much more money than $25,000. I personally would recommend carrying $50,000 at least or $100,000.
Damages caused to the other carAs far as damage caused to the other car, Colorado requires you carry $15,000 at a minimum and again if you have more assets, or cash in the bank, purchase more for your own protection. Please talk with your insurance agent and he or she can make sure you have the necessary car insurance coverage and can raise your limits, if you limits are too low.
