Four Legal Categories of Fatherhood

Biology states that the man who’s sperm got a woman pregnant is the father. The law disagrees. Rather than relying on biology, the law has created four categories of fathers: (1) adjudicated father; (2) presumed father; (3) putative father; and (4) no-longer-father.
