Felony Shoplifting or misdemeanor shoplifting in Arizona

Shoplifting of theft in Arizona can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the value of the goods that were taken from the store. If the value of the goods were in excess of $250, the offense may be charged as a felony. If less than $250, it will likely be charged as a misdemeanor.

Many of the lower courts, or those that handle misdemeanors, offer a diversion program wherein you can admit guilt without having the conviction on your record. You will have to take a diversion class and jump through some more hoops, but if you succeed, the case will be dismissed and no conviction will show up on your record.
