Contributing to Health Insurance for the Children After Divorce
-Parents may be able to keep their kids on their health insurance until age 26. If they qualify, parents can keep their children covered on their health insurance.
-The Child Support Standards Act, which governs child support, says “until 21, unless sooner emancipated;” however, two parties can agree to maintain their children’s health insurance beyond 26 – and to make ongoing contributions – by agreement between the parties. The court will not order it.
