Can I sell my home if I have a tax lien?

You may be able to sell your home if you have a tax lien. There is a process that’s required. You send a request into the IRS, and in that request, you ask for permission to sell, or in some certain circumstances, refinance your home. The request includes copies of the tax liens, a copy of the deed, an appraisal, and the county appraiser’s office evaluation of your property as well. It takes about 45 days and then you’ll get a response from the IRS about whether they will permit you to sell your home or refinance it.
