California’s Homestead Exemption is Increasing. What Does This Mean?

Currently, Californians are able to protect their home equity in an amount up to $75,000 for some homeowners, and up to $175,000 for others. On January 1, 2021, due to the passing of AB 1885, that amount is significantly increasing to between $300,000 and $600,000.
