Avoiding Traffic Tickets
Some common-sense advice for how to avoid a ticket.
Appearances are everythingI wish I could say don't break the law and you won't get traffic tickets but even innocently scratching your cheek or checking your earring might be perceived by an officer as using a cell phone.
It's harder to unwrite a ticket than to not write itIf you have a reason the officer should not write a ticket in your name or a PBA card you can use, hand it over when you're handing over your license. Once the ticket is written it is very difficult for the officer to let you go even if he or she wants to.
Be respectfulDon't be remembered for being rude or making the officer feel unsafe. Everyone is safer at a traffic stop if the officer does not feel unsafe. Stay in your car. Don't be memorable for being rude as you may meet the officer again in traffic court and you don't want to be the one where the officer makes sure to win and tells the judge about your outrageous behavior.
