Arizona Dog Bite Laws

Arizona imposes strict liability for dog owners and the person in control of the dog for dog bite injuries to children. That means the person walking the dog or watching the dog may also be liable for injuries caused by the dog from dog bites or a dog attack.

Section 11-1020 of the Arizona Dog Bite Law Statute states: Injury to any person or damage to any property by a dog while at large shall be the full responsibility of the dog owner or person or persons responsible for the dog when such damages were inflicted.

Section 11-1025(A) of the Arizona Dog Bite Law Statute states: The owner of a dog which bites a person when the person is in or on a public place or lawfully in or on a private place, including the property of the owner of the dog, is liable for damages suffered by the person bitten, regardless of the former viciousness of the dog or the owner’s knowledge of its viciousness.

Dog Breeds with a Propensity to Bite

Certain dogs have a propensity to bite or should be considered dangerous breeds when your children are involved. They include the following breeds:

Pit Bull TerriersChowsTerriersRottweilersGerman ShepherdsDoberman Pinchers

Many of these dogs are great around children, and many dogs not listed here can bite and injure a child. Regardless of the breed that injured your child, we want to help.
