The allegations may be driven by a 3rd party or to avoid embarrassment. Sex offenses are oftentimes driven by false allegations and If there is evidence to be obtained and preserved, then the defense investigation can obtain and preserve that evidence and provide that evidence to the law enforcement agency doing the investigation.
