My ex-boyfriend pawned off my camera and kit that contained my photography memory chips with my personal photos during our breakup and I want to know to what extent I can pursue this and what kind of punishments can/will be dealt.
All you can do is report this to the police. The police will investigate and, in conjunction with the prosecutor's office, will determine if any charges are available. It probably matters how he came into possession of the camera and such. Like if he broke in and took them, that's quite different than you loaning them to him and he pawns them.
You can also consult with local attorneys about suing him. It is POSSIBLE that if he knew there were important photos on there it might open up an action like intentional infliction of emotional distress. I think that's a long shot, however.
