Company "x" is fairly new, but it's evaluation is through the roof. "x" offers product via an app that any citizen can sign up for and use. Well a couple months ago "x" took a big hit. Due to the fact that the app had a flaw which allowed anybody to use the product at no cost. And anyone with internet could know how to do this by simply watching 1 out of dozens youtube videos. Well they patched the flaw on the app and can no longer use their product for free. But now I have figured out a way to not only use the product at no cost but also could mean that if I wanted to I could retain their product. Leaving "x" with hundreds of dollars in lost product. Now I could also do this an infinite amount of times. So if someone how I was to show this company "x" what I have figured out which by the way a 10 year old could do. If I someone how could bring this to their attention and it's something I don't believe that could be an easy fix by simply patching it on the app. If I threw a number/figure/amount at them by way of a NDA. Would that be illegal for me to do so? And I'm talking about fraction of a penny to what "x" estimated evaluation is. Something like .00000001%
HOW you go about this will determine if it is a business transaction or extortion. I recommend having legal counsel represent your interests and communicate with the company. Also, if you take steps to do anything that you state you are capable of, and if you spread that info, the company WILL come after you. So, get with legal counsel and make a plan. There are lots of us here who can assist.
