Today I went into Sephora, and stole three items that came out to less then 100 dollars, security ran up to me leaving the store telling me what I stole. I gave him all the items back and told him I would never go back into the store. He told me don’t come back here again but is their a chance Sephora can track me down or file criminal charges? The security guard let me go but I’m still scared. I’m only 18 Will they send me out letters or a civil demand even when they didn’t get my address or personal information? Also the police department just called me but I hung up and blocked the number.
If the police called you that is a good clue that Sephora filed charges against you. Blocking their number will not prevent them from arresting you. If you try to avoid arrest the DA could tell that to the Judge at your arraignment and the Judge could consider that in deciding whether or not to set bail on you.
