I was supposed to turn myself into jail wit work release approved last September, I did not do to medical health issues. I hired a lawyer who definitely was only concerned about getting paid. He took months to submit motion for home monitoring with a doctors letter stating would be in my best health interset to remain at home. He submitted on day judge was retiring and motion was denied. Is there any point in trying to find a worth while layer and submitting again to new judge or should I just write letter to jail administratior? Thank you
writing the jail will do nothing. I would get a better lawyer and keep working on it. That is the only hope you have sadly.
It sounds like you have an open warrant, so I would definitely hire an attorney to help you. The problem you're facing is that generally when you miss your work release turn in date, your sentence converts to a straight jail sentence at the county jail. I honestly can't tell you whether a new attorney would be more successful with the new judge, but your only other alternative is turning yourself in and serving the time.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.
