Working out of state, leaving child with other parent.

Abandonment is a criminal charge that stems from failing to support your child for 30 days or more. We really don't have enough information to advise you here. Was the father married to you or has he legitimated the child. If not, then he needs to file to legitimate. Otherwise, he has no rights to the child and would have difficulty enrolling her in school, seeking medical treatment etc. If there is already a custody order in place, it will need to be modified to give him primary custody and you a child support obligation. If this a very short term move on your part, you may be able to work it out another way. Talk to a local attorney.
